This is a presentation that will help you distil what is a photo-essay and how it differs from constructing a portfolio. Key to this presentation will be discussing ‘Your Why’ and understanding why we create photo essays and what sets it apart from other genres of photography such as street and event photography. We will discuss in detail the key components of creating an essay and look at examples from Nilmini’s work as well as historic examples. Part of this presentation includes how to share your documentary photography project more widely.
